Commission – Sculptural Handrail “At Play”

“At Play” railing was commissioned for a Private Residence in Hillsboro, Oregon. Client’s need for the handrail was first for the purpose of safety and secondly to fulfill their wish to add a fun sculptural element to an already whimsical property. My intention with this design was to capture the playful spirit of the couple who lived and worked on their farm. The design began as two people rolling and playing on a hillside, and evolved into adding swings as a result of collaborating with the client and fabricator during the design process. This was a fun project! Process: Made with steel square tubing, handrail stock custom rolled and pressed to follow grade onsteps, adding matching volutes, panels plasma cut from 1/8? steel plate, ground, TIG welded , then Powder-coated Yellow.

Dancing With Fire - Total Art Collaboration

This collaboration between Alisa Looney and Wade Womack was designed to be a Total Art experience. “Dancing with Fire” engages multiple senses: visual, experiential and time based. Fire creates warmth and causes mobile to dance, while colored glass reflects light, and fire shining through spiraling shapes of bowl creates dynamic shadows in motion. Exhibited in the 2019 Bend Winterfest Fire Pit Competition, and later sold to a happy client in Boise, Idaho, for their back patio entertainment area.
