Vitreous Enamel (glass) on Hammered Steel 7 x 4.125 x 3.5 inches Instincts Call Me Home was inspired by the long journey of the Sockeye Salmon, from the Pacific Ocean to Redfish Lake in Central Idaho. Sunset skies flow over the head and spine of these sacred fish.

Title: Tree Guardian-Wall Wave Dimensions: 12 h x 3.75 w x 3.75 d inches Medium: Enamel on Steel Techniques: Steel: Plasma cut, ground, hammered & welded. Liquid Enamels: ground coat, granular spray, sgraffito, & watercolor enamels, kiln-fired. Theme Made during Sandra McEwen's Enamel Art Jam 2022. When I received the theme "Hidden Carnival," I first thought of an old-time town carnival, and also considered the Mardi Gras and its colorful celebration before lent. The word hidden conjured up hidden parts of ourselves, that we have kept tucked away. For me, this has been my feminine side. I do experience direct access to my feminine through my deep connection to nature, and care for the earth. I decided to embrace and celebrate these unseen mysteries of life and nature in this piece. Sculptural Form This sculptural steel form, which I am calling a "Wall Wave", is made using a shape that I have used previously in a large brooch and a much larger wall piece. I have wanted to turn it into a circular form for the wall, and this project moved me to finally do this, as the image could be partially hidden inside the wave. As expected it was a challenge to draw and paint within the wave shape, but by moving slowly and carefully, it was possible. Enamel Image The Tree Guardian, human and tree combined, has been coming to me through sketches for quite some time, largely inspired by my embodiment practice of moving and sketching with nature. This form has arms and branches actively reaching up into the sky, and legs and roots reaching down to the nourishing mycelium network. On an unseen spiritual level, the guardian is connected to all life, embracing the heavens and grounding toward the center of the earth. Hand painted with layered watercolor enamels, the rich carnival-like colors and textures depict the energy and celebration of life in the natural world. As the viewer passes by, the tree guardian and surrounding landsca[e is revealed from behind the wave.

Vitreous Enamel (glass) on Hammered and Welded Steel 6.5 x 6.5 x 4.5 inches Currently exhibiting in the Enamelist Society's International Biennial – Alchemy 6. An exploration in humility, grappling with climate change. The base is a hurricane, nature’s powerful response. The humble stature of the body with one wing down in humility and one wing reaching for the strength to fly. On the feathers many eyes are waking up, listening to nature, how to respond.

Barefoot Porcelain Enamel on Hammered Steel 6.5 x 4 x 3 inches Barefoot was inspired by the the simplicity and strength of a gesture as two dancers connect spatially even while out of view of each other.

I especially want to acknowledge the indigenous women who carry the knowledge of how to care for our earth and all living things.

Body Memory Porcelain Enamel on Hammered Steel 12.5" h x 10.25" x 4" d Body Memory – depicts my own history, body memories (muscle and cell memories) and meaningful moments of my life for which I am grateful. This is the first sculpture in an ongoing Memory and Gratitude Series made to honor people. With this series my intent is to honor people, their history, and the contributions they have made. I am offering this approach on a commission basis to honor the lives of others, to acknowledge their most meaningful moments, personal history and life experience. This body of work explores the many ways we find meaningful moments amidst these challenges, even joy, reaching for a calm acceptance of what is. This piece is my way of coming to terms with how we as humans are folding back into nature as our time on earth is limited. Sold

They have chosen to plant in the tropics where trees grow fast and can combat climate change the quickest. A portion of proceeds from this piece will be donated to treesisters.org to support this mission. Sold.
