Thank you everyone who has come out to see my show and/or to hear my artist talk this month. It has been a wonderful experience to share my enamel work with all of you.
If you missed seeing the exhibit, you still have an opportunity to see several of the enamel sculptures held over at GUARDINO GALLERY in the FRONT WINDOW of the FEATURE AREA – through Nov. 19th!
Alisa Looney – Metal Sculpture Vitreous Enamel (glass) on Steel
GUARDINO GALLERY – FRONT WINDOW of the FEATURE AREA – Continues through Nov. 19th!
Guardino Gallery 2939 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211 503.281.9048
I am thrilled to have this detailed glass work facing the outdoor light for clear viewing. The sun shines through the layers and highlights the true depth.
We had a wonderful turnout for the artist talk on October 22nd, with so many interested in the work and how it was made. Attendees asked great questions and were curious and engaged in every step of the process. What a joy to share a peek into this process of kiln-firing layers of glass onto metal and the many techniques involved.
Many thanks to all who have come to see the work, and to Donna Guardino for making this exhibit possible in her beautiful space.
If you haven’t seen it, head on over!
For many gallery visitors, this may be the first time seeing the seductive beauty of vitreous enamel applied to sculptural steel form.
If you have questions about the work, just send an email. I look forward to talking with you!
Alisa Looney, metal sculptor and enamelist, known for her public sculptures in the Northwest, is currently exhibiting her enamel (glass) on steel sculptures and wall reliefs in Guardino Gallery’s Feature Area WINDOW through November 19, 2016.
Her current enamel work explores the theme: “Folding into Nature.”
She is interested in how we as humans are coping with the environmental and cultural challenges we are facing. She is presenting work that explores the many ways we find meaningful moments amidst these challenges, even joy, reaching for a calm acceptance of what is.
